Library

The Library is a ministry of First Christian Church and, as such, seeks to provide the congregation with books that encourage and provide guidance in Bible study, evangelism, mission endeavors, personal growth as a Disciple of Christ, and knowledge of Christian literature.

Location and Hours

Circulation

Books are checked out for 3 weeks.  They may be renewed if not On Hold for someone else. Books must be returned after 3 weeks before other books may be checked out. Please limit books checked out to 3 per person, 10 per family. Self-serve checkout requires first and last name, date of checkout, and card filed at front of file. Lost books will be charged at replacement cost.

Catalog

A notebook catalog is available.  It may be searched by Author, Title, or Subject, as well as by shelf order. The notebook will be updated quarterly.

Gifts

No magazines or paperbacks will be accepted as they have a very limited circulation life. Donations should be in like-new condition with no markings or underlining. Books donated to the Library become the property of the Library.  If not needed/suitable for circulation, they will be recycled or donated at the discretion of the library committee. In order to keep our library maintained and stocked with current books, copyrights should be within the last five years, except in special cases. We encourage you to remember our library in memorials and monetary gifts.

Acquisitions

Books are selected for purchase in both fiction and nonfiction genres, with the goal of providing a diversity of knowledge on a wide variety of interests. Titles are chosen for reference, motivation, Biblical enlightenment, Bible study, Christian humor, and Christian fiction. Recommendations are encouraged.  Titles may be suggested using the blank forms in the Library area.

Objections

Objections to materials in the Library collection may be voiced through a Reconsideration Form, available from the pastor.  When completed in full, the form should be returned to the pastor.  The Library Committee will consider the request, with the final decision regarding the material to be made by the pastor.
